ECU: QB Rio Johnson Transferring

East Carolina Pirates football coach Ruffin McNeill has announced that former starting quarterback Rio Johnson will be transferring to another college.

According to coach McNeill Rio Johnson left the team on good terms and was just not happy that Johnson was not getting the chance to play for the Pirates.

Rio Johnson entered the 2012 season as the East Carolina Pirates starting quarterback but during week 2 of the season Johnson lost his starting quarterback role to Sophomore  Shane Carden who is currently ECU’s starting quarterback.

As for quarterback Rio Johnson he will likely find another which will give him a greater shot at being their starting quarterback. In his 2 year tenure with ECU Johnson threw for over 500 yards and threw 5 touchdowns and was only picked off twice in his tenure.

The East Carolina Pirates this season 6-4 (5-1) in Conference USA.
