The UFC have announced that they have released fighter “Big” Lavar Johnson from his contract due to testing positive for a steroid which raised his testosterone levels.
Lavar Johnson entered the UFC last January when he made his debut against Joey Beltran in which he won the bout and knockout of the night. Winning in impressive fashion in his 1st fight Johnson was signed on to take on Pat “HD” Barry at UFC on Fox and once again Johnson picks up the victory via 1st round knockout and took home knockout of the night honors.
2-0 in the UFC and well on his way to becoming a heavyweight contender Lavar Johnson now begins his bump on the road. Johnson signed on to face Stefan Struve at UFC 146 and tapped out via a armbar to the “skyscraper”. With 1 loss on his record it was time for Johnson to get back in the W column but in his 4th and final fight in the UFC Johnson took on “The Hybrid” Brendan Schuab at UFC 157. Johnson was down most of the fight due to the takedown strength of Schuab which secured the win for “The Hybrid”.
With Johnson out of the Ultimate Fighting Championship their are some big options for him he can work his way back to the company by competing at Bellator MMA or possibly taking the route and fighting at independent MMA events around The United States.
