With the NBA trading deadline less then 24 hours away, several teams have already gone to work. The Houston Rockets, the Sacramento Kings, and the Phoenix Suns have completed a three team trade today. The Rockets send Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, and Toney Douglas to the Kings and they also send Marcus Morris to the Suns. The Kings send Tyler Honeycutt, Francisco Garcia, and Thomas Robinson to the Rockets. The Suns send a 2013 2nd round pick to the Rockets.
Several key things about this trade. The first is that there will be reunions for Demarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson , as well as Marcus Morris and Maurice Morris. Cousins and Patterson both played in Kentucky togetheral, while Marcus and Maurice are brother who dominated at Kansas. The Morris brothers were a fearsome duo at Kansas and hopefully for the Suns, they’ll be able to find that chemistry once again. Another key note is that Thomas Robinson was the number five overall pick in last year’s draft and since then has not lived up to expectations in Sacramento. With Patterson and Morris now gone, the power forward slot is wide open for Robinson to get more playing time. The Kings used this deal mainly for financial purposes according to sources and they are looking towards the future. More trades are sure to await the next couple hours, so stay tuned!
