Linsanity took the NBA by storm when Jeremy Lin helped lead the New York Knicks on an unbelievable run. Despite the incredible run Lin lead the Knicks through, New York refused to match Houston’s offer sheet to the free agent this past offseason and as quickly as it came, the New York linsanity ended. Jeremy Lin was not the only one of that team to sign somewhere else this offseason, his teammate and close friend Landry Fields headed out the door as well. Fields felt in the end that it was his time to become a bigger part of a team and sharing the limelight with Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire in the Big Apple made it difficult.
He signed with the Toronto Raptors this offseason to a three year, 20 million dollar contract. Fields started his career on a big note by being a starter on the New York Knicks after being selected in the second round out of Stanford. This season has been a struggle for him injury wise as he missed a good part of the beginning of the season after injuring his elbow.
Since returning to the lineup , he has only shown some flashes of his former self and critics are starting to wonder if signing Fields was another bad move by the Raptors front office, however , with the recent addition of Rudy Gay, the team has begun to show signs of success. Fields will only hope to contribute off the bench, but the 20 million dollars Toronto gave him might come back to haunt them in their future.
