According to the Miami Herald the Miami Marlins sign former New York Mets pitcher Jon Rauch to a 1 year contract.
This move will be a big move for the bullpen for the Miami Marlins which is in such a big need of depth in that department. In order to make Jon Rauch on the 40-man Miami Marlins roster the Marlins designated Bryan Petersen for assignment.
Jon Rauch spent last season as a member of the New York Mets. While with the Mets Rauch went 3-7 with an 3.59 ERA. Coming over to the Miami Marlins who have one of the youngest bullpen’s in Major League Baseball Rauch will serve as the teams late inning reliever and also motivational leader with his veteran leadership.
The Miami Marlins have been pushing to sign more pitching to their roster this late and this close to Spring Training. The team has been in constant contact with former Detroit Tigers closer Jose Valverde about possibly signing with the Miami Marlins.
