According to NPBTracker.com former Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Takashi Saito has signed a one year contract with his homeland team the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles this off season have been really active the Japan based team signed former New York Yankees outfielder Andruw Jones and third baseman Casey McGehee. Saito will be joining the Golden Eagles as the oldest pitcher on the teams roster at the age of 42. Takashi’s veteran experience will help aid this young and talented pitching rotation as well as their bullpen.
Saito began his 6 season Major League career as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 2006. He spent 2 seasons with the team before moving on to other teams like the Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. In the 6 Major League seasons he spent with 5 major league teams Saito has a career ERA of 2.34 with 84 saves and 400 career strikeouts.
