San Francisco 49ers Release Brandon Jacobs

Brandon Jacobs with the San Francisco 49ers in 2012

As Black Monday in the National Football League has been unleashed earlier this morning playoff teams are also making moves the San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have released running back Brandon Jacobs.

Brandon Jacobs joined the San Francisco 49ers this season after spending the previous 7 seasons with the New York Giants. His addition to the niners was to build depth to the team’s running back core but his lack of production, his 3 game suspension and the coming of former Oregon Ducks running back LaMichael James their is just no spot on the roster for Brandon Jacobs at this point.

Brandon Jacobs in 2012 was suspended for the final 3 games of the season due to posting a series of messages on Twitter about his lack of playing time with the 49ers. The niners did not wait till the off season to look more into this incident but decided to take care of the situation right away by releasing Jacobs. This season for the 49ers Jacobs appeared in 2 games for the team and rushed for only 7 yards on 5 attempts. During the off season Jacobs will latch on with another team in hopes to get more playing time.
