Nate Schierholtz Signs With The Chicago Cubs

 has reported that the Chicago Cubs and free agent outfielder Nate Schierholtz are nearing a one year contract worth up to 2 million dollars.

The Cubs have been really active in the free agent market in the past 42 hours. In that time frame the Cubs signed both Edwin Jackson and as well as Nate Schierholtz.

Last season Nate spent a split season between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies. Nate was traded for Hunter Pence and a pair of 2 prospects on June 21st, 2012. During his tenure with both teams last year Schierholtz batted .257 with 6 home runs and 21 RBI’s in 114 games last season. Nate is expected to be used as the Chicago Cubs everyday right fielder. In correspond with the move of Nate to right the Cubs will shift David DeJesus over to center field with Tony Campana being a reserved player on the bench.
