According to NFL.com Houston Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed will be sidelined up to 4 weeks due to a groin injury sustained in the Houston Texans overtime victory over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving afternoon.
The Houston Texans defense have lost Brian Cushing earlier this season after sustaining a ACL injury and on top of that the teams best corner Jonathan Joesph has had some issues with his hamstring and now one of the Texans top linebackers Brooks Reed is out.
With Brooks Reed being sidelined for the next month the Texans will now turnover to their 1st round draft pick Whitney Mercilus as their everyday starting linebacker in replace of Reed. Mercilus this season has appeared in all the games for the Texans this season and has 17 tackles and 3 sacks on his resume in his rookie season.
The Texans defense in the past couple of weeks have felt the full existent of the injuries to their defense but with the solid productions from the backup linebackers and consistent offense lead by Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson the Texans still continue to win.
The Texans will be back on the road this week as they go and visit the Tennessee Titans.
