The Oakland Athletics and the San Diego Padres have announced that they have worked out a deal that will send Oakland pitcher Tyson Ross and prospect A.J. Kirby-Jones to the Padres in exchange for infielder Andy Parrino and pitcher Andrew Werner.
The big player in this deal is Tyson Ross, Ross last season for the Oakland spent the season at both the Major League level and Minor League level. Tyson went 2-11 with a 6.50 ERA in 18 game appearances for the A’s last season.
Tyson Ross has a big chance to revive his career with the San Diego Padres. The Padres are in need of depth in the rotation Tyson Ross has worked at the bottom of the pitching rotation before when he played in Oakland don’t expect Ross to be 3rd on the Padres depth chart opening day we can either expect him to be the 5th pitcher in the starting rotation or be in the bullpen to also provide depth and come in as a middle inning reliever.
The 2 former Padres players going to the Athletics Andy Parrino and Andrew Werner both last season saw MLB time. Andrew Werner last season appeared in 8 games for the Padres but struggled he finished out the season with a ERA at 5.58. As for Andy Parrino he did not leave a big impact on the Padres but can really be a big help for the Athletics in the future in the 55 games for the Padres last season Parrino hit .207 with 1 home run and 6 RBI’s.
