Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has announced that the San Francisco Giants have agreed to terms with relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt on a brand new contract. The Giants and Affeldt agree on a new 3 year contract also sources say that the deal will be worth about 18 million dollars.
Now San Francisco Giants nation with the signing of Jeremy Affeldt its 1 down 2 to go. The Giants are now focusing their sights on resigning free agent outfielder Angel Pagan and NLCS MVP Marco Scutaro.
But the signing of Affeldt is a much need for the San Francisco Giants he is the teams top middle reliever and if they were not able to agree on a new deal and let Affeldt walk it would be very hard to replace him. Last season for the World Series Champions San Francisco Giants, Jeremy Affeldt was 1-2 with 2.70 ERA and struck out 57 batters in only 67 games for the team last year.
The new contract will be finalized after the San Francisco Giants receive a cleared physical from Affeldt’s doctors.
